In a rather expected gesture, US Airways gives cash for crash stricken passengers of Flight 1549.

APTOPIX New York Plane in RiverU.S. Airways has sent a check for $5,000 to each passenger who was on the plane that crashed in the Hudson River last week, saying it will be months before they receive any of their possessions that were on the plane and are recoverable.

“The National Transportation Safety Board has begun their investigation of this accident, and all of its contents must be examined and weighed prior to releasing any items on board in order to verify the weight and balance on the aircraft.

Since most passengers may or may not get their luggage back and for the inconvenience of the unexpected landing US Airways is compensating.

I just with this happened every time the airline industry lost any luggage crash or not. In the last 5 flights I have taken in probably the last 3 years my luggage has been lost 3 times. Only once did they find it and it was returned to me days later.
