BBC News – The strong statement said China did not recognize the 31m euro (£28m, $39m) sale of the bronze rat and rabbit.

It also ordered tighter checks on artifacts that Christie’s auction house takes into or out of China.

The bronzes were sold as part of the estate of late French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.

FT.com – China will continue to buy US Treasury bonds even though it knows the dollar will depreciate because such investments remain its “only option” in a perilous world, a senior Chinese banking regulator said on Wednesday.

China has used the dollars it accumulates selling manufactured goods to US consumers to accumulate the world’s largest holding of Treasuries.

China warns that a declining economy may result in lower quality of their food and drugs. Lead covered toys anyone?

Chinese officials warned that Chinese food and drug makers my cut corners and ignore quality standards in a declining economy.

China has been rocked by a number of scandals in recent years involving unsafe food and drugs which have sometimes killed people and prompted global recalls of Chinese-made goods.

At least six children last year died from drinking milk formula adulterated with melamine, an industrial compound used to cheat nutrition tests, and more than 290,000 fell ill with kidney stones. China has put on trial a number of company officials and farmers accused of producing and selling the toxic milk.

So the next time you are at Wal-Mart and getting those Yellow Dot Price Cut Deals you may want to check if it’s made in China. Which I can probably bet that probably 90% of Wal-Mart merchandise is made in China.
