There’s also the requisite murmuring that one Steve Jobs may make an appearance — though of course, there’s also nothing more solid than wishes and fairy dust to back that one up. As far as possible product launches go, well, there have been significant whisperings about upcoming iPod / iTunes developments as of late, including the company’s reported dealings with major record labels. This would fall in line with Apple’s habit of releasing iPods every fall, and we’ve heard plenty about upcoming iPod touches which boast, among other things — a camera and microphone. Daring Fireball has also reported that these bad boys will come in 16, 32 and 64GB varieties running $199, $299, and $399, respectively. In more salacious gossip, there’s the possible Apple tablet we’ve been hearing about, but there’s no solid word on any products for now. We’ll be watching this one closely, we assure you.

NY Times.com – Marvel Entertainment – home to characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, and the Hulk – has announced plans to release a series of “motion comics” via iTunes. Introduced at New York Comic Con, the new format would have the iPod- and iPhone-bound digital books taking on characteristics of both print and animation with audio and motion enhancing the typical panel-based format of print.

Hasn’t animation of comic books been done? This isn’t traditional animation. The Motion Comic format would feature traditional panel-based structures that are set in motion. Instead of thought bubbles and dialog boxes, the dialog would be spoken. Best of all? The original artist’s drawings would be used to compose the digital books, as opposed to facsimile drawn by an animator.

So Macworld has come and gone and as this is the last Macworld..ever.. some exciting news did come out of the otherwise lowkey event.

Just to run down the list quickly iTunes will get new pricing. Starting in April their will be three price points of $0.69, $0.99, and $1.29 that will be chosen by the music company. And by the end of the year all 10 million songs in iTunes libaray will be offered DRM free.

Also for the iPhone iTunes will work over the 3G network and not just WiFi for all your music access while on the go. I for one welcome that.

iWork and iLife have been revamped with numerous upgrades and in the hardware department there is the new 17″ Macbook Pro.

Overall it was okay but nothing stellar. There were rumors about a new upgrade for the Mac Mini and new iPhone and iPod Touch. But I guess we will have to wait later in the year for any of that.

One funny thing happened during this event. Macrumorlive.com got hacked during its blog of the event. It was so bad at one point the whole system came down and after a few hours their main site was working again. I can only guess that their system is a windows server and not a mac server.

Click the link below to be taken to a first look at the new MacBook Pro from the guys at Engadget.com
