The world is waiting for the historic moment on Tuesday, January 20th when the United States celebrates a presidential inauguration for the 1st African-American President – Barack Obama – in the country’s short 200+ year history. Preparations have been ongoing since Obama’s defeat of Republican John McCain in the 2008 Presidential Election. The cost of the inauguration is expected to top $150 million. Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden are currently on a 137-mile train ride from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Washington, DC which mirrors the same exact route that President Abraham Lincoln took just before his inauguration in 1861.
Obama’s order will direct his administration to figure out what to do with the estimated 250 al-Qaida and Taliban suspects and potential witnesses who are being held at Guantanamo.

It’s still unlikely the prison would be closed any time soon. Obama last weekend said it would be “a challenge” to close it even within the first 100 days of his administration.
